James is an experienced and deft media contributor and commentator. He has featured on the Today Programme and Newsnight, taken part in panel discussions on BBC Radio 4's Start the Week and BBC Scotland's Janice Forsyth Show, and been interviewed on American National Public Radio stations from New York to Boston and Dallas. He is also an accomplished public speaker, and has held talks at events ranging from the Edinburgh International Book Festival to the 'Arts and Letters Live' programme of the Dallas Museum of Art. His writing and journalism has appeared in, among others, The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Scotsman, The Herald, The National Post (Canada), The New York Times, Sabotage Times and Flaunt Magazine (US).
